The economy has left many families struggling and, when times are hard, domestic violence incidents increase. In the past year on the Navajo Nation, and nationally, domestic violence cases have more than doubled. As a result, the need for our services has increased. Our Mission is to provide safety, shelter, advocacy, mentoring, and education for families affected by domestic violence. With your help, we can continue to be a resource for those seeking safety and shelter giving survivors the opportunity to make positive changes to their lives through intervention.

The Home for Women and Children is a non-profit, 501(c) (3) organization serving women and children in need on the Navajo Nation, the Four Corners and San Juan County. Our services are vital and are the first step for survivors of domestic violence to begin to heal, strengthen, and restore harmony in their lives.

Your gift to the Home for Women and Children will meet the needs of domestic violence survivors and their children. The Home for Women and Children provides:

  • Safety, Shelter, & Transportation- a safe, violence-free environment for the Survivors and their Children
  • Food & Clothing-  families arrive hungry with only the clothes on their back
  • Someone who cares- Crisis Intervention and Advocacy provided 24/7.
  • Child Victim Advocacy- referrals and networking available for family support
  • Legal Advocacy- assistance with Protection Orders
  • Education- new beginnings provided for families through living skills, education and empowerment.
